Astrid Davidson

Astrid Davidson began painting in the late seventies. She took oil painting from David Young at Langara College in Vancouver. Painting was put aside for a “few months” when her daughter was born.

In the nineties after all children had left the nest Astrid began painting again, trying out various mediums and studying under various teachers until she went back to her first love, oil painting in 2008.

Astrid continues to take as many workshops and courses as possible. A special time is set aside every morning to study new techniques and painters she admires. Astrid now paints with two groups each week.

Although she experiments with different mediums, oil is still Astrid’s first love. Her favourite subjects are beach tide pools, forest paths and flowers from her garden. Astrid’s goal is to capture the feeling or colour of her favourite places or subjects.
